What are One Way Slings?

Also known as disposable slings or single-use slings, One Way Webbing Slings are designed to be attached to a load at the point of manufacture and remain with that load throughout its entire transportation journey (road, rail, and sea). Once the cargo reaches its final destination and is unloaded, the sling must be destroyed and discarded.

Key Advantages for Export & Logistics

  • Time and Cost Efficiency: By "pre-slinging" loads like timber bundles, steel pipes, or machinery, stevedores and port workers do not need to spend time rigging the load. The crane simply hooks onto the existing one-way sling, dramatically reducing loading/unloading times and port fees.
  • Cost-Effective Rigging: Since they are designed for a single journey rather than years of continuous use, they are manufactured with a lower Safety Factor (typically 5:1 or 4:1) compared to standard 7:1 reusable slings, making them highly economical.

Safety and Usage Warnings

  • Do Not Reuse: As the name implies, these slings are strictly for a single trip (one-way). They must not be retained for general lifting purposes after the initial cargo delivery is complete.
  • Color Code: Unlike EN 1492-1 slings, one-way slings are typically white, black, or orange, and do not follow the standard lifting color-code system. Always check the attached label for the Safe Working Load (SWL).
  • Inspection: Even though they are single-use, they must be visually inspected before every lift during their journey to ensure no cuts or chemical damage occurred in transit.
